MTN Donates 149 MiFi Devices to Teachers in Push for Digital Education

    MTN Nigeria

MTN Nigeria has donated 149 MiFi devices to teachers as part of efforts to strengthen digital education and improve access to online learning resources in the country.

The devices were presented on Aug. 6 at the fourth Digital Educator Conference and Exhibition held at the Ecobank Headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The initiative is aimed at providing teachers with reliable internet connectivity to access digital learning resources, improve classroom instruction and participate in professional development programmes.

The conference attracted more than 700 educators, policymakers, school administrators, technology experts and development partners from across Nigeria to discuss ways of bridging the digital skills gap and equipping teachers for technology-enabled learning.

Speaking on the donation, Mr Idowu Adesokan, General Manager, Consumer Segment Management, MTN Nigeria, said the company remained committed to supporting educators with the resources required to operate effectively in modern learning environments.

Adesokan said reliable connectivity had become essential to teaching, professional development and access to global educational resources.

He said empowering teachers with digital tools would ultimately contribute to improved learning outcomes among students.

“The future of education depends on the ability of teachers to adapt to a rapidly changing digital landscape.

“Through this donation, we are improving access to connectivity and digital resources. We are enabling educators to engage with new teaching methods, access global knowledge networks, and better prepare learners for the demands of the modern economy.

“Our goal is to ensure that teachers remain at the centre of Nigeria’s digital transformation,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ibukunoluwa Ogooluwa, a Biology teacher at Deeper Life High School, Abeokuta Campus, described the intervention as timely and useful to educators.

Ogooluwa said reliable internet connectivity was important for teachers seeking digital learning resources, professional development opportunities and improved classroom delivery.

“We are grateful to MTN Nigeria for this timely support. Reliable internet connectivity is essential for teachers seeking to access digital learning resources, participate in professional development programmes and improve classroom delivery,” she said.

She said the devices would help educators remain connected to relevant tools, knowledge and opportunities that could improve their effectiveness in the classroom.

Ogooluwa added that sustained investment in teacher connectivity and digital capacity could have a lasting impact on learning outcomes as schools increasingly adopted technology-enabled teaching methods.

MTN Nigeria said the donated MiFi devices would provide teachers with continued access to online learning platforms, instructional materials and professional development opportunities beyond the conference.

The company said the initiative reflected its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the private sector and the education community to promote a more digitally inclusive learning environment for Nigerian students.
