For many Nigerians, some memories from the past are attached to familiar faces, sounds and moments. A television advert, a music show, a movie scene or a song could turn an entertainer into a household name, creating memories people still recognise years later.
That nostalgia was on full display at the Y’ello Street Museum at Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, August 10, 2026, where some of the country’s biggest stars – Rita Dominic, Linda Ejiofor, Hauwa Lawal, Chidinma, Praiz and Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka – joined guests as MTN Nigeria marked 25 years in the country.
For fans of Project Fame, the presence of Chidinma and Praiz brought back memories of the music reality show that kept Nigerians glued to their screens and introduced new voices to the country’s music scene.
Saka offered another throwback, with visitors remembering his “I Don Port” advert, its catchy line and the dance moves that became familiar on Nigerian television.
Other familiar faces also added to the nostalgic mood, with Rita Dominic, Linda Ejiofor and Hauwa Lawal among the celebrities who visited the museum.
Their presence brought together different parts of Nigerian entertainment, from Nollywood and television to music and the social media era, giving visitors more familiar faces and memories to reconnect with.
The gathering showed how much Nigerian entertainment has changed over the years, from television programmes and music shows to streaming platforms and social media.
Yet, seeing familiar faces from different eras in one place brought back the songs, shows, adverts and moments many Nigerians grew up with, giving visitors plenty to remember, laugh about and share.
