A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, has granted leave for the publication of a winding-up petition filed against Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited over an alleged unpaid debt owed to former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick.
Justice A. Nganjiwa gave the approval after dismissing an application by the company seeking to stop the publication of the petition.
The court consequently granted Pinnick permission to advertise the winding-up proceedings against the company.
According to court documents, Pinnick alleged that he advanced a loan of 100,000 dollars and N5 million to the company in 2023 to support the execution of a FIFA-funded mini stadium project in Ugborodo, Delta State.
He claimed that the loan was granted following a request for financial assistance by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ebi Ezekiel Egbe.
Pinnick further alleged that the company executed an agreement acknowledging receipt of the funds and undertaking to repay the amount.
However, he contended that the company failed to honour the repayment obligation despite repeated demands.
The former NFF president is asking the court to wind up the company on the grounds that it is unable to pay its debts.
The publication of the winding-up petition is expected to notify creditors, stakeholders and members of the public of the ongoing proceedings in line with legal requirements.
The matter is expected to come up for further hearing on a date to be fixed by the court.
