Rogue Police Officers return N1m extorted from corps members – Ravenewsonline

The N1 million extorted from three members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by four officers of Lagos Police Command has been recovered and returned to the owners.

The rogue police officers were exposed in a viral video demanding bribe from the corpers over alleged failure to produce a physical copy of their driver’s license.

They also reportedly forced one of the corps members to transfer Bitcoin worth $842.

The Lagos State Police Command had moved swiftly to arrest the rogue officers serving with the Surulere division after the video went viral.

The youth corps members were also invited to state their case against them in a post on the social media by the Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

An X user, Oluyemi Fasipe, who shared the video of the ordeal of the youth corpers confirmed the recovery of the extorted money.

He also confirmed that the money has been returned to the owners by the police.

He commended Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, and the Lagos State NYSC for resolving the matter.

“The rogue men of the Area C command of the @LagosPoliceNG who extorted over 1 million naira from the corp members have refunded the money.

“I am patiently waiting for the outcome of their trial. I like to appreciate @BenHundeyin and the @officialnyscng Lagos State for their efforts too.

“I also like to use the opportunity to say hello to my friend in Delta State, @Brightgoldenboy,” Fadipe said on his X handle on Friday.
