Nigeria’s Super Falcons have distributed training kits and essential football equipment to about 150 grassroots female football teams across the country as part of their “Mission X” legacy project following their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The initiative was disclosed in a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday by Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde, who said the project was designed to inspire and support the next generation of female footballers in Nigeria.
According to the players, the team agreed before the tournament to ensure that their WAFCON success would extend beyond the football pitch by creating opportunities for young girls pursuing careers in the sport.
“Going into the WAFCON 2025 in Morocco, we, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, came together with a goal to use our victory to inspire the next generation and as a tool for change,” they said.
Following their championship victory, the players said they identified about 150 grassroots female football teams across Nigeria that struggle with inadequate resources and limited support.
“After winning the WAFCON 2025, titled Mission X, we reached out to about 150 grassroots female football teams across Nigeria because we knew the challenges they face. We knew resources are scarce and the support is limited, so we decided to take action,” they added.
The Super Falcons donated training kits and essential football equipment, including footballs, cones and bibs, to help improve the teams’ training conditions and development.
“We distributed training kits and essential equipment, things like balls, cones and bibs, just the basic things they need to chase their dreams,” the players said.
Ajibade and Ayinde explained that the initiative goes beyond the donation of sporting equipment, serving as a message of encouragement to young female footballers across the country.
“This is more than just giving supplies; it is about showing that their game matters, their dreams are valid. We see them, we hear them, and we are here to support,” they said.
The players described the beneficiaries as the future of Nigerian football and urged them to continue pursuing their ambitions with confidence.
“You are the future of Nigerian football, and we believe in you,” they said.
The duo added that the Super Falcons want their legacy to be remembered not only for winning trophies but also for making a lasting impact on the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
“As a team, our legacy isn’t just about winning trophies; it’s about being the change and being that spark that ignites a movement,” they said.
