2027: Pantami’s Aide Quits, Backs Gwamna as Political Realignments Intensify in Gombe

    Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna

Hon. Muhammad Buhari Dalhatu, Special Adviser to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, on Youth Leadership and Community Engagement, has resigned from his position and declared support for the governorship ambition of Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna in the 2027 general elections.

Dalhatu announced his resignation in a statement issued on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, in which he also reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He declared support for Gwamna, the APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, and expressed commitment to the party’s success at all levels in the 2027 elections.

The development was described by Gwamna’s campaign as significant, given Dalhatu’s previous position within Pantami’s political structure.

According to the statement, Dalhatu’s decision is part of a series of political movements involving individuals who previously worked closely with Pantami but have subsequently aligned with Gwamna.

It mentioned Affan Buba Abuya, a former Personal Assistant to Pantami; Sunusin Gombe, popularly known as Ameer, who reportedly coordinated the Pantamiyya political structure; and Dahiru Saidu Nafada, described as a close ally of the former minister.

The campaign also described Nafada’s reported alignment with Gwamna as significant because of his longstanding relationship with Pantami and his influence within political circles associated with the former minister.

The statement said the developments reflected what the campaign described as changing political dynamics in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“These political decisions reflect the changing political dynamics in Gombe State and the growing confidence in the direction of the APC, as the state approaches another defining political season,” it said.

Gwamna welcomed Dalhatu’s decision and commended him for reaffirming his commitment to the APC.

He said the future of Gombe State should be built around unity, competence, experience and continuity.

The APC candidate also stressed the need to consolidate the achievements of the administration of Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He expressed confidence that continued cooperation among APC stakeholders would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political activities have continued to intensify in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 governorship contest, with political parties and aspirants seeking to consolidate their support bases.

The claims concerning the wider political significance of Dalhatu’s resignation and the extent of support for Gwamna were contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson.

The statement did not include responses from Pantami or the other individuals mentioned in connection with the political realignments.
