JAMB Fixes 150 as Minimum Cut-Off Mark for 2026 University Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026 academic session.

The decision was announced on Monday at the ongoing 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja.

The annual policy meeting, convened by JAMB, brings together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector to determine admission guidelines and benchmarks for tertiary institutions nationwide.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, heads of tertiary institutions, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

The approved cut-off mark means candidates seeking admission into universities in Nigeria must score at least 150 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for consideration for admission.

JAMB is also expected to announce minimum admission benchmarks for polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics as deliberations continue.

The policy meeting is part of efforts to ensure a uniform, transparent, and merit-based admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Further details from the meeting are expected to be released by the board.
