FCCPC Withdraws Case Against MTN Nigeria CEO, Karl Toriola

Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has withdrawn its case against MTN Nigeria’s Managing Director and CEO, Karl Toriola, along with two other senior MTN executives.

The case, filed in July 2024, accused the executives of failing to comply with a lawful summons by not providing requested documents and information during an investigation.

However, the FCCPC recently filed a notice of discontinuance, effectively ending the proceedings against the MTN officials.

Lawyer Nsitem Chizenum representing the FCCPC stated the commission is exercising its right under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act to withdraw the charges before judgment is pronounced.

The matter is scheduled for further procedural hearing on October 30, 2025.
