    Court Sends Mu’azu to Jail for Impersonating NITDA Officials

    Justice J. Awak of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe has convicted and sentenced one Ahmed Mohammed Mu’azu to three months imprisonment on one-count charge of attempt to impersonate officials of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

    The offence is contrary to Section 95 and Punishable under the same Section of Penal Code Law.

    The defendant sometime in 2019, under the guise of empowering the youths through a Non-Governmental Organization, ” Youth Empowerment Capacity Building Organization of Nigeria”, Gombe branch promised unsuspecting members of the public training opportunities at NITDA, charging N1,000 (One Thousand Naira) per participant.

    Unfortunately, before he could execute his nefarious scheme, operatives of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), arrested him in a sting operation facilitated through credible intelligence.

    He pleaded guilty to the charge upon arraignment and was subsequently convicted and sentenced to three months imprisonment.

    The judge, however, gave him an option of fine of N10, 000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira).
