Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist, Odigie Moses, for allegedly sextorting an Indian woman and demanding $1,100 to prevent the release of her nude video.
The suspect was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, according to a statement issued by the EFCC on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.
The commission said Moses allegedly misrepresented himself online as possessing spiritual healing powers and was contacted by the victim, an Indian woman seeking spiritual intervention over some life-threatening challenges.
According to the EFCC, the suspect subsequently deceived the woman into participating in a naked spiritual bath, which he allegedly recorded without her consent.
The suspect was then accused of threatening to publish the video unless the victim paid him money.
The commission said investigations revealed that the victim eventually paid $1,100 to prevent the suspect from releasing the video.
The EFCC said Moses would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
