UNILAG Bans Unauthorized Skitmaking, Content Creation on Campus

University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has prohibited the unauthorized use of its premises for skitmaking, filmmaking, and other forms of content creation.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of the Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem.

According to the statement, the university management expressed concern over the increasing trend of individuals using campus facilities, including hostels, for video production without prior approval.

“The attention of the University of Lagos Management has been drawn to the increasing use of the University premises, including hostels and other facilities, for shooting of films/videos (skits, vox pop, etc.) and cinematographic activities, without appropriate authorisation,” the statement read.

The university said the move was aimed at preserving the academic environment and protecting the institution’s image from misrepresentation.

It added that procedures had been established for obtaining approval for any form of video recording on campus.

“Members of the University community and general public are therefore advised to comply strictly with this directive in the interest of order, safety, and collective responsibility,” it stated.

UNILAG reiterated that all students, staff, and external collaborators must seek clearance from the Communications Unit before engaging in any content production within the university premises.
