    Chaos on the Rails! Warri-Itakpe Train Suffers Derailment, Emergency Teams Rush In

    Nigerian Railway Corporation has confirmed that four coaches of the Warri-Itakpe Train Service derailed on Monday, June 8.

    The corporation disclosed this in a statement issued by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Opeifa, saying emergency response teams and relevant authorities had been deployed to the scene.

    According to the NRC, officials are currently managing the situation and providing necessary assistance.

    “The Nigerian Railway Corporation confirms that an incident involving the Warri-Itakpe Train Service occurred today. Emergency response teams and relevant authorities are currently at the scene attending to the situation and providing necessary assistance,” the statement said.

    Opeifa stated that the corporation was closely monitoring developments and would provide further details as more information becomes available.

    He clarified that four coaches left the rail track during the incident, an occurrence referred to in railway operations as a derailment.

    The NRC urged members of the public to remain calm and rely on official communication channels for verified information.

    As of the time of this report, the cause of the derailment and information regarding possible casualties had not been disclosed.
