Tinubu Hails Security Forces, Urges Citizens to Support Fight Against Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has commended members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their courage and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats across the country.

Tinubu gave the commendation in a message posted on his official X handle on Monday, where he praised troops serving on the front lines for their commitment to protecting lives and preserving national stability.

He described security personnel as a shield between innocent citizens and criminal elements seeking to undermine peace and security in communities across the country.

“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities,” the president stated.

Tinubu acknowledged the difficult conditions under which security operatives work, noting that they serve in forests, on highways, in creeks, at forward operating bases and across other challenging terrains in defence of the nation.

According to him, the fight against insecurity has come with immense pressure, pain and sacrifice, but the resolve and professionalism of security personnel have remained steadfast.

“This fight has not been easy. It has come with pain, pressure, and sacrifice. But your courage has remained firm. Your service is acknowledged. Your sacrifice is honoured. Your country does not take you for granted,” he said.

The president extended his appreciation to officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies and local security formations contributing to national security efforts.

He also paid tribute to the families of security personnel, recognising the emotional burden associated with long deployments and the risks involved in security operations.

“I also acknowledge the families behind the uniform. Many of you have endured long absences, anxious nights, and the emotional cost of duty. Nigeria remembers that sacrifice too,” he said.

Tinubu honoured security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifices as invaluable contributions to the nation’s survival and stability.

“We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country. Their courage lives on in rescued communities, protected families and the survival of the nation they served,” he added.

The president urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid efforts to combat criminality and terrorism.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information.

“When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s determination to tackle insecurity, Tinubu stressed that Nigeria would not surrender to fear or allow violent groups to define the nation’s identity.

“Nigeria will not surrender to fear. We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people,” he said.

The president concluded by expressing gratitude to security personnel for their vigilance and service, while praying for their safety as they continue to defend the nation.
