Court Approves UK, US Labs for Mohbad Paternity DNA Tests

Ikorodu High Court has selected three overseas laboratories—two in the UK and one in the US—for DNA testing to resolve the paternity dispute over Liam, son of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).

The order addresses repeated claims by Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, who insists his son’s remains—held since his Sept. 27, 2023 death—will stay unburied until Liam’s paternity is confirmed. Each party nominated one lab, with the court adding an independent third.

At the latest hearing in the case pitting Aloba against widow Wunmi, counsel Oladayo Ogungbe told reporters: “The court has eventually picked three DNA Laboratory centers, two in the UK and one in the US. One from us, one from them and the court picked an independent one.”

“The matter has been adjourned to the 7th of April for us to report on the picking of samples. Prior before then, we would have made arrangement with the welfare officers to ensure that samples are taken which will be supervised by the welfare officers and it will be monitored. All the parties will be there when they are taking the samples.”

Aloba’s team will station representatives at each facility to oversee sample delivery and testing.
