Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah has moved into the same property previously occupied by former Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme following his transfer to Turkish club Trabzonspor,
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan disclosed the development while dismissing speculation about the accommodation provided for the Egyptian forward.
Dogan revealed that Salah is currently staying in a property formerly occupied by Nwakaeme, who enjoyed two spells with the Turkish club and became a popular figure among the supporters.
“We currently have some houses in Trabzon that we’ve arranged for. For example, the house he’s staying in now is the same house Nwakaeme used to stay in,” Dogan said, according to quotes reported by Fanatik.
The Trabzonspor president explained that the club owns or manages several properties for its players and said there was nothing unusual about Salah’s accommodation.
“There are about seven to eight houses there, villas, standard. Certain images are circulating, but there’s no big fuss about it. I don’t know where else in Trabzon such a house exists; I don’t even know if one exists,” he added.
Nwakaeme spent two spells with Trabzonspor and established himself as a fan favourite during his time at the club.
The 37-year-old ended his playing career with Trabzonspor after helping the club win the Turkish Cup in May. Following his retirement, the club also offered him a scouting position.
Meanwhile, Salah’s arrival at Trabzonspor could have implications for another Nigerian forward, Paul Onuachu.
Former Trabzonspor striker Emre Gural believes the Egyptian’s presence could create more opportunities for Onuachu by drawing the attention of opposing defenders and creating additional space for the Super Eagles striker.
