Court

Adenike Okunbanjo, 60, was arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly stealing 99 iPhones worth N14.85 million.

The defendant, an individual charged with conspiracy and theft, resides at 1, Alade Street, Temidire, Ibafo, Ogun State.

According to ASP Raji Akeem, who represents the prosecution, the crime was perpetrated on January 16, 2017, at Lagos’ Muritala Muhammed International Airport.

According to Akeem, Mr. Bolaji Ogunsanya shipped the iPhones, valued at N14.85 million, from the United States to Lagos for delivery to “Mr. Azeez” in Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, the shipment arrived in Lagos but went missing at the airport, and all searches for it were fruitless.

Akeem claimed that the complainant gave the police access to all of the phone’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers.

The prosecution added that the defendant was found and arrested when one of the phone’s IMEIs was linked to her.

Four iPhones were discovered after investigating her home, according to Akeem.

He claimed that the offense was against sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws from 2015.

However, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

The defendant was given a bail bond of N2 million with two sureties in an equal amount by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. O Osunsanmi.

The case was postponed till September 28 for mention by Osunsanmi.
