The handover ceremony, held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja on Thursday, marks the transition from a donor‑supported project to a fully Nigerian‑led digital‑governance platform.

NITDA Director‑General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, represented by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr Dimie Warowei, described the occasion as the culmination of a strategic partnership between Nigeria and the Republic of Korea, backed by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The NGEA project, launched in late 2022, is a key pillar of Nigeria’s e‑Government Masterplan 2.0 and aims to align digital systems across ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) under a common, interoperable framework.

Abdullahi said Nigerian and Korean experts spent over two and a half years reviewing and upgrading the national enterprise architecture, producing a revised structure designed to reduce duplication, improve efficiency and better reflect national policy priorities.

Several reference models—including Technology, Business and Service models—have been developed to guide implementation, while further Data and Performance Reference Models are expected to deepen the architecture’s robustness.

Pilot programmes were rolled out at agencies such as the National Identity Management Commission, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service and NITDA itself, where staff received capacity‑building support and tailored digital‑transformation roadmaps.

The platform is hosted on infrastructure supplied by the Nigerian firm Qorebox Technologies Limited and run within Galaxy Backbone’s facilities, with a two‑year maintenance plan to ensure stability.

The DG stressed that the NGEA Portal is more than a technical tool; it is a foundation for coordinated, citizen‑centric governance.

“The successful implementation of enterprise architecture across government will help reduce duplication, improve interoperability, and enhance service delivery,” he said, adding that NITDA will now lead the operational management and long‑term sustainability of the system.

KOICA’s Country Director, Mr Eunsub Kim, hailed the event as evidence of a successful Nigeria–Korea collaboration and reaffirmed his agency’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital‑transformation agenda.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr Nadungu Gagare, represented by Mr Johnson Bareyei, welcomed the portal as a shift from scattered digital initiatives to an integrated national framework, aligned with the ministry’s transformation goals under Dr Bosun Tijani and the broader national digital‑economy drive.
