The Headies Teams Up with Wakanow, Gives Away Free Tickets to Toronto Ahead of 18th Edition

The Headies has partnered with leading travel technology company, Wakanow, ahead of the 18th edition of the awards, creating new travel opportunities for guests travelling to Toronto, Canada, for the landmark event.

The partnership is part of The Headies’ preparations for its return to Canada under the “Africa to the World” theme, with travel expected to play a key role in connecting Nigeria’s creative community and other stakeholders to the Toronto edition.

Speaking at the The Headies: Road to Toronto reception in Lagos, Ayo Animashaun, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Headies, highlighted the significance of the partnership and the growing travel connection between Nigeria and Canada.

“It is exciting that The Headies is part of this groundbreaking moment, especially with the recent announcement of direct flights between Nigeria and Canada. As we take The Headies to Toronto, we are proud to be part of this new chapter and to create a stronger connection between Nigeria’s creative community and Canada,” Animashaun said.

As part of the partnership, three attendees at the reception were selected through a special draw to receive tickets to Toronto.

Adeyinka Adebayo, Group Executive Director of Omnicom Media Group, and Samuel Obafemi Banjomo, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, received Economy Class tickets, while Dami Adenuga, Founder of DAW Empire, received a Business Class ticket.

Bayo Adedeji, Group Chief Executive Officer of Wakanow, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Africa’s growing creative industry and connecting its talents with global opportunities.

“As the light on our stars goes global and they take their music and culture across continents, it is our job at Wakanow to take them there. We are proud to be part of this journey with Mr. Ayo and The Headies team and excited to open the world to our customers and Africa’s creative community,” Adedeji said.

The partnership is expected to strengthen travel support for The Headies’ international expansion and make it easier for guests, industry stakeholders and members of the wider creative community to participate in the 18th edition in Toronto.

The return to Toronto is part of The Headies’ broader “Africa to the World” vision, which seeks to showcase African music and culture while creating stronger connections with international audiences, businesses and markets.

The 18th Headies is scheduled to take place in Toronto, Canada, bringing together leading names from across Africa, Canada and the wider diaspora for a celebration of African music and culture on the global stage.
