Lionel Richie Hospitalised in St. Louis Over Possible Heart Issues

merican music icon Lionel Richie remains hospitalised in a St. Louis intensive care unit as doctors conduct tests over possible heart-related issues.

Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that Richie is undergoing medical examinations concerning his heart. He is reportedly expected to be discharged on Wednesday, September 2.

The singer checked himself into the hospital for medical tests following his performance at The Muny in St. Louis on Saturday night.

Sources initially said doctors were also investigating possible mild dehydration, with Richie hoping to leave the hospital on Tuesday. However, his stay has been extended as doctors continue their examinations.

Concertgoers reportedly noticed that Richie appeared to be struggling towards the end of his St. Louis performance. He is said to have asked members of his team to bring him a chair so he could sit while performing his final song, “All Night Long.”

The latest hospitalisation is the second time Richie has required medical attention during his current tour.

In June, the singer was taken to a hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, after falling ill on stage during the opening night of the tour.

At the time, Richie told the audience that he felt “dizzy” and “strange” before ending the performance early. Paramedics later transported him to hospital by ambulance.

The incident forced Richie to postpone a scheduled performance in Chicago.

The singer is currently taking a break from his tour, with his next scheduled performance set for September 26 in San Francisco.

Richie’s representatives have not publicly provided further details about his current condition.
