Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested two suspects linked to the killing of four soldiers ambushed in Ashaka Aboh, Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State, in February 2023.
Ufuoma Sunday James and Lawrence Umuakpero Oboguayivwgue also face allegations of beheading Chief Okwudili Obi, known as Odumodu, during a 2023 communal clash between Kwale and Asemoku communities.
The soldiers, on a peacekeeping mission, were attacked by gunmen who killed them and seized their weapons, with James allegedly leading the ambush. Acting on credible intelligence, DSS apprehended the pair, who confessed to the murders plus gun-running and kidnappings.
A state High Court in Kwale ordered their remand pending trial, marking a key step in resolving the long-dormant case.
DSS officials hailed the arrests as proof of commitment to cold cases, especially attacks on security forces, through persistent intelligence work.
The development reassures affected communities that no violent crime will evade punishment, easing tensions from the incident that drew national outrage.
