The EFCC Enugu Zonal Office handed over bank drafts and cheques totaling ₦1,234,350,000 plus ₦50,000,000 on Wednesday.

Zonal Director Daniel Ise said the recovery aligns with the agency’s mandate to trace and restitute misappropriated public funds, prompted by the state’s petition.

“This does not end the investigation,” Ise stated. “We will probe every facet to recover every kobo and prosecute where criminality is proven.”

He urged contractors to obey the Procurement Act.

Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, received the funds, praising EFCC’s professionalism amid “distractions.”

“The recovery reflects Governor Peter Mbah’s focus on transparency,” Onyia said. “We petitioned after spotting delivery shortfalls; funds will fuel infrastructure.”

He noted ongoing probes, prior lawsuits, and resolve to sanction non-performing contractors.
