CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, disclosed the new prize structure after a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat on the eve of the tournament.

The 2025 AFCON will run from Dec. 21, 2025 to Jan. 18, 2026.

According to CAF, the winner’s prize represents a 43 per cent increase from the previous edition, where hosts Côte d’Ivoire earned seven million dollars after lifting the trophy.

The prize money has doubled over a four-year period. Winners of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon received five million dollars, before the figure rose to seven million dollars at the 2023 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, and now to 10 million dollars for Morocco 2025.

CAF also confirmed that the runners-up at AFCON 2025 will receive four million dollars, while the two losing semi-finalists will each earn 2.5 million dollars.

The continental football body said the increase is part of its ongoing efforts to boost the value, competitiveness and global appeal of Africa’s premier football tournament.
