Man City Breaks Transfer Record With €526m Summer Spending

Manchester City have become the biggest spenders in football history in a single transfer window after investing a record €526.2m on new players during the 2026/27 summer window.

According to Transfermarkt, City became the first club to surpass the €500m mark in one transfer window after completing a series of high-profile deals before the deadline.

Their spending overtook Liverpool’s previous record of €483m, set during the 2025/26 summer transfer window.

City’s final spending figure was boosted by the deadline-day arrivals of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for €70m and Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for €145m. Fernández’s transfer fee matched the British transfer record.

The Premier League champions also completed major deals for Elliot Anderson, who joined for €135m, and Ayyoub Bouaddi for €95m, among other signings.

Despite spending €526.2m, Transfermarkt reported that City generated approximately €337m from player sales, leaving them with a net spend of about €189m.

Liverpool previously occupied the top spot after spending €483m in the 2025/26 window, including €125m on Florian Wirtz and €145m on Alexander Isak.

Chelsea’s €418m spending in the 2023/24 window had previously ranked among the highest single-window expenditures, while Real Madrid spent €331m in 2019/20.

Chelsea also remain among the biggest spenders after investing €407m in the 2026/27 window, ranking fourth on the all-time list.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also joined the top 10 after spending €366m and €301m respectively during the current summer window.
