Saudi Pro League champions Al Nassr have appointed Australian coach Ange Postecoglou as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract.
The club announced the appointment in a statement, confirming that the 60-year-old will take charge of the first team ahead of the new season.
“A new chapter. Mr Ange Postecoglou as coach of the first football team at Al-Nassr club, with a contract extending for two seasons.
“Our best wishes for success to him and his staff in their journey with the global club, God willing,” the club said.
Postecoglou joins Al Nassr after a brief spell out of management following his dismissal by Nottingham Forest in October, where he lasted just 39 days and oversaw eight matches.
The Greek-born Australian began his coaching career in Melbourne before becoming head coach of the Australian national team in 2013. He guided the Socceroos to the 2014 FIFA World Cup before leaving the role in 2017.
After a successful stint in Japan, Postecoglou moved to Scotland, where he enjoyed a trophy-laden two-year spell with Celtic.
He was appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager in 2023 and led the North London club to the UEFA Europa League title in 2025, ending the club’s 17-year wait for major silverware.
Despite the European success, a disappointing Premier League campaign led to his departure from Spurs.
His subsequent appointment at Nottingham Forest proved unsuccessful, with the club dismissing him after just over a month in charge.
At Al Nassr, Postecoglou will work with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi club in 2023 and recently extended his stay.
The appointment marks Al Nassr’s latest move to strengthen its ambitions of domestic and continental success under the experienced Australian coach.
