After Giving Out ₦45 Million to Startups, MTN Takes 'The Gathering on 100' to Kano

The company said the event would hold at the Meena Event Centre, No. 6 Lodge Road, from noon until 10:00 p.m., marking the programme’s first outing in Northern Nigeria.

According to MTN, the initiative brings together young people through entrepreneurship, music, gaming, fashion, lifestyle, networking and other creative activities aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration.

The company said the programme had recorded notable success since its debut in Lagos in April, particularly through its Pitchathon competition, which provides funding opportunities for startups.

It said eight startups received a combined N45 million in funding during the Lagos edition, with Hubpharm Africa emerging as the overall winner and securing N15 million to expand its operations.

MTN noted that the initiative continued its support for young entrepreneurs during subsequent editions in Aba and Enugu, where emerging businesses also received funding and mentorship to scale their ventures.

According to the company, the programme is designed to create opportunities beyond entertainment by enabling participants to build businesses, access funding and establish valuable professional networks.

It added that previous editions also featured rap battles, dance competitions, gaming, fashion showcases and other cultural activities that encouraged youth participation and community engagement.

The company described Kano as a strategic destination for the initiative, citing the city’s longstanding reputation as a commercial and cultural hub with a rich history of trade, enterprise and innovation.

MTN said the Kano edition would feature another Pitchathon, offering young entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete for funding and business visibility.

It added that participants would also engage in music, gaming, lifestyle and cultural experiences designed to inspire creativity and strengthen community connections among young Nigerians.

The company expressed confidence that the Kano edition would build on the successes recorded in previous host cities by providing a platform for young people to connect, collaborate and transform innovative ideas into sustainable opportunities.
