Matawalle Vows to Pay Bandits in Same Coin

Zamfara’s Governor Bello Matawalle has said his administration will deal decisively with the bandits and their sponsors terrorizing the state.

Matawalle made his position known on a statewide broadcast he made in Gusau on Saturday following further attacks by state thugs.

Hundreds of motorcycle bandits attacked the village of Kadawa in the local government area of Zurmi, state, Thursday evening, where they reportedly killed people.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to treat ruthlessly all those behind the murders that have taken place in the past and now.

“In recent weeks, the act of banditry has returned to the ugly dimensions it had before my administration arrived.

“Marauders kill regardless of sanity rules.

“Women, the elderly and children are not spared.

“As a result, large numbers of people have been displaced in almost every city in the state.

“You are witnesses to what we have accomplished since the beginning of our administration, in particular the efforts for peace and reconciliation that we have initiated and carried out.

“As a result, we were able to turn our violent narratives into one of optimism and peaceful coexistence.

“Unfortunately, things suddenly took a dramatic turn and it got worse every day.

“It is clear that some invincible hands are plotting evil against our people in an attempt to make our state as terrifying as it was in years past.

“My constant prayer is that Allah will reveal those who commit these cruel atrocities against our people,” he said.

“I assure you that we will stand firm in our efforts to eradicate banditry and all types of crime from the state,” he said.

While urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security guards, the governor also urged community members to rise up and repel any attacks on their respective communities. (NAN)
