Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as Nottingham Forest manager after just eight matches in charge, with the decision announced only minutes after the team’s 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea.

In a brief statement posted on X, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat at the City Ground before the final whistle, and confirmation of Postecoglou’s dismissal came shortly after full-time.

The Australian coach had only been appointed on September 9, following his Europa League triumph with Tottenham earlier this year. However, a disastrous start, no wins and six defeats in eight games, sealed his fate, making him Forest’s third managerial casualty this season.

Postecoglou appeared calm but determined in his pre-match press conference on Friday, October 17, declaring: “If I’m given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy.”

Forest’s poor run of form has left them near the bottom of the Premier League table, and the club is now urgently searching for a replacement.

According to early reports, former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche is among the leading candidates to take over.
