Kidnappers have abducted Ladi Abel, the wife of a senior immigration officer, along the Badagry-Mile 2 expressway in Lagos State, demanding a ransom of N3 million for her release.
Isaac Elijah, spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Seme Command, confirmed the incident to NAN on Tuesday.
He said the 45-year-old woman was taken on Monday morning, October 6, while on her way to purchase goods at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo Local Government Area.
“She left home at the Sawmill area of Badagry around 7 a.m. and has not returned,” Elijah said.
According to him, the kidnappers used the victim’s phone to contact her husband, Chief Superintendent of Immigration Abel Mada, initially demanding N7 million.
“Today (Tuesday) at about 6 a.m., one of the kidnappers called again, reducing the ransom to N3 million if the husband wants the woman alive,” Elijah added.
The incident has been reported to the Badagry Police Station and the Area K Zonal Command, and investigations are underway.
Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as efforts continue to secure the victim’s release.
