A Nigerian national convicted of multiple counts of drug trafficking has been fined Ksh.46.5 million or serve 60 years in prison.

The accused, Okwudili Cletus Onuh, appeared before Kahawa Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Koech on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to multiple charges levelled against him.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, the change of plea followed overwhelming evidence presented by the prosecution.

“Okwudili Cletus Onuh was on 23rd September 2025 convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple counts of drug trafficking under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act,” stated ODPP.

Magistrate Koech then fined Onuh Ksh.46,500,000 for counts 1, 3, and 4, with a default sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment on each count.

The sentences are to run concurrently, taking into account the three years he has already spent in remand.

The case against the second accused, Hamid Annet Njoki Kaur, is scheduled to proceed to a hearing on September 29, 2025.
