After selling 2 choppers to private people, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology has no training helicopter

NCAT

Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Acting Rector Shaka Imalighwe, said the school had no training helicopter. He said this at a House of Representatives hearing on the sale of two College helicopters.

He told the House of Representatives Committee on Public Assets that he took over College management in January 2024 as an interim manager. Even though he was the College’s Deputy Rector when the helicopters were sold, he denied being on the sales team.

The House of Representatives Committee Chairman, Ademorin Kuye, voiced worry over the selling of the two helicopters to private individuals when the College had no training helicopter.

The committee questioned how the helicopters were sold to private persons when security forces like the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, and Police expressed interest.

In distinct presentations, the three security organizations expressed interest in buying the helicopters in writing and visited the College. College management prevented them from buying helicopters.

After the hearing, the committee ordered the former and current aviation ministers to attend at the next investigation. The committee also summons members of the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Finance Incorporated, MOFI, and the College’s immediate previous and present rectors.
