Salesman Hires Robbers to Burgle Boss Shop in Ogun, TV Recovered

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a salesman, Lucky Otuonye, for allegedly organising robbers to burgle his boss shop in the Ago-Iwoye area of the state.

The robbers, who invaded the Abuking Electronic Shop in the Olopomerin area of Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the state, stole a 32-inch LG plasma television.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Oyeyemi explained that the salesman and two others, Chinedu Peter and Matthew Igwe, were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Ago-Iwoye Division, CSP Paul Omiwole.

He said, “Upon the distress call, the DPO and his men swiftly moved to the scene, but the robbers, who stabbed the salesman in his left hand, had escaped with a 32-inch LG plasma television before the arrival of the policemen.

“The salesman, Lucky Otuonye, was quickly taken to hospital for treatment, while all the adjoining stations were alerted to be on the lookout for the fleeing suspects.

“Some hours after, members of a hunters’ group saw the two men with a plasma television in Awa-Ijebu and they quickly informed the police, who promptly arrested them.

“They were later taken to Ago-Iwoye, where they confessed to being responsible for the robbery and added that it was the salesman, who hired them to come and rob the electronics shop.

“The salesman, Lucky Otuonye, was then promptly arrested. He has also made a confessional statement.

“Recovered from them are one 32-inch plasma television, one Bajaj motorcycle and a knife.”

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered a thorough investigation into the past activities of the suspects with a view to charging them as soon as possible.
