Wike Orders Hotel Owner’s Arrest, Seizes Abuja Collapse Site for Public Use

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has directed the arrest of the owner of a Jikwoyi, Abuja hotel that collapsed Friday, April 4, vowing to convert the illegal site to public use.

The multi-story building, constructed without approval despite repeated stop-work orders, fell while workers were present—no deaths but several injuries reported.

Visiting April 7, Wike warned of graver consequences and confirmed prosecution ahead, with community input to shape the land’s public repurposing.
