The extension shifts the original statutory deadline from March 31, giving taxpayers an additional two weeks to comply.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, said the extension was granted to enable individuals complete and submit accurate tax returns.

Subair reiterated that timely filing of annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and urged taxpayers to make compliance a routine personal practice.

He also emphasised that electronic filing via the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved method for submission, noting that manual filings have been fully phased out.

Taxpayers are therefore required to submit their returns exclusively through the official portal: LIRS eTax Portal.

According to the LIRS boss, the platform is secure, user-friendly, and accessible round the clock. He advised individuals to ensure that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly captured during submission.

He added that taxpayers seeking assistance can visit any LIRS office or contact the agency through its designated support channels.
