    Repentant Boko Haram member surrenders with AK-47 and IED to troops in Borno

    A 22-year-old member of the Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (BHT/ISWAP) has surrendered to troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

    The terrorist, identified as Musa Babagoni, reportedly surrendered on September 13, 2026, 2026 after escaping from the group on September 11.

    According to security sources, Babagoni surrendered in an operation conducted by troops in collaboration with Forest Guards.

    Items recovered from him included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, magazines, a hand grenade, a locally fabricated improvised explosive device (IED), a magazine pouch and a bicycle.

    The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and processing.
