Police arrest three suspected fraudsters impersonating Kogi Governor’s wife

Kogi State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters for allegedly using the name and office of the First Lady of the state, Sefinat Usman-Ododo, to defraud unsuspecting victims.

The spokesman of the command, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, who disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Lokoja said the suspects, two men and a woman, had allegedly printed the forms with the name: Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria which they passed off as empowerment platform of Mrs Usman-Ododo.

He said the suspects (names withheld) are being detained in the custody of the Police Quick Response Unit.

According to the PPRO, the trio allegedly printed forms with the name: Kogi State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria and sold it to unsuspecting members of the public for enrolment into a fake empowerment programme.

He said the trio reportedly deceived their victims that the said cooperative was the empowerment platform of the First Lady.

“The suspects were nabbed in Lokoja on Tuesday, when an undercover agent approached them and bought the form. The matter is under investigation and once concluded we shall prosecute them accordingly,” he said.
