An operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bauchi State has been stabbed to death by an unidentified person during an enforcement operation.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, September 8, at Anguwan Zango, Tilden Fulani, in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to residents, NDLEA operatives had stormed the area following reports that suspected hoodlums regularly gathered there to smoke cannabis and use other illicit drugs.
The officials reportedly arrested one of the suspects and were taking him away when other individuals allegedly resisted the arrest.
During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly used a sharp object to stab an NDLEA operative in the stomach in an attempt to prevent the arrest and free the suspect.
The assailants reportedly fled the scene after the incident, while the NDLEA team attended to their injured colleague.
The operative later died from complications arising from the injuries sustained during the attack.
Following the incident, the Bauchi State Police Command reportedly launched a manhunt for the suspected attacker.
Authorities are expected to continue efforts to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack as investigations into the incident continue.
