Iran has warned that any U.S. attack on its domestic infrastructure would trigger a broader response targeting infrastructure across the Middle East, according to reports by Fars News Agency.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued the warning while outlining Tehran’s position on potential U.S. military action against the country.
“Destroy infrastructure, we will destroy whatever infrastructure remains in the region,” Zolfaghari was quoted as saying.
He also warned against foreign interference in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic maritime route critical to global energy shipments.
According to him, Tehran would not allow the United States, which he described as an external power, to interfere in the waterway.
“This is Iran’s unbreakable red line,” he said, warning that any attempt to restrict Iran’s role in the area would face a strong response.
Zolfaghari said Iran’s response to any attack would not be limited to reciprocal action, promising what he described as a “superior blow” that would be broader and more damaging.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran over security and maritime activities in the region.
Although diplomatic efforts have been initiated to reduce tensions, including a memorandum of understanding reportedly brokered by Pakistan, both sides have continued to exchange threats and maintain military pressure.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, with a significant proportion of global oil shipments passing through the narrow waterway.
International observers have continued to call for restraint from both sides to prevent further escalation and protect regional stability.
