Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and MTN Nigeria have rolled out free, high-speed WiFi services for passengers at the international wings of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
This partnership sets the stage for similar rollouts at airports in Kano, Port Harcourt, and Enugu over the coming months.
Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director, unveiled the service at MMIA Terminal Two, represented by Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, Director of Airport Operations.

Kuku hailed the move as a “major milestone” for Nigeria’s aviation sector, establishing a new standard in digital infrastructure and passenger experience.
She announced extensions to MMIA’s Temporary Terminal soon, followed by Enugu, Port Harcourt, and Kano within three months.
“In 21st-century Nigeria, no airport should be an offline island,” Kuku stated. “This MTN collaboration shows how Public-Private Partnerships can modernise infrastructure and boost our digital economy.”
FAAN, she added, remains dedicated to bridging service gaps and improving efficiency nationwide. “This WiFi signals our commitment: Nigerian aviation is entering a chapter of innovation and excellence.”
Kuku linked the project to President Bola Tinubu’s digital economy drive and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo’s vision, praising MTN’s expertise.
MTN Nigeria’s CEO, Karl Toriola, represented by Lynda Saint-Nwafor, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, promised reliable, secure service.

“We’re thrilled to launch free WiFi at key Nigerian airports with FAAN, enhancing passenger experience and digital access,” Toriola said.
Airports, he noted, are vital hubs for business travelers, tourists, and staff needing constant connectivity. “Now, boarding, transit, or arriving passengers can connect freely.”
MTN plans awareness campaigns at Lagos and Abuja airports next month to boost uptake, underscoring its role in national infrastructure and public digital expansion.
