Ayeni remains in EFCC custody as probes into the misappropriation and diversion of funds continue, with arraignment expected post-investigation.
Sources indicate the funds were loans obtained through about 12 companies tied to Ayeni, meant for marine security, electricity distribution, estate development, but allegedly rerouted to telecom assets via a NATCOM account linked to NITEL/MTEL.
This marks a fresh scrutiny for Ayeni, previously charged in a 2019 EFCC case over Skye Bank depositors’ funds.
