The Presidential Amnesty Programme has deployed 54 Niger Delta beneficiaries to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies under its offshore scholarship scheme.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Igoniko Oduma, the programme said the scholars departed Abuja and arrived in London on Friday to commence studies at various universities.
The beneficiaries are among 150 scholars who underwent a pre-departure orientation in August following their deployment by the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro.
The latest deployment brings to 243 the total number of offshore postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries deployed by the programme in 2026.
The scholars will pursue programmes including software engineering, cybersecurity, global public health, oil and gas engineering, law, fintech analytics, construction engineering management, forensic audit and data science analytics.
Otuaro charged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and be good ambassadors of Nigeria and the Niger Delta.
He also urged them to respect the laws of the United Kingdom and comply with the rules and regulations of their respective institutions.
The PAP boss further advised the scholars to return home after completing their programmes and contribute their knowledge and skills to the development of their communities and the nation.
Otuaro said, “Education is the vehicle for the socio-economic advancement and sustainable peace and stability of the Niger Delta.
“Investing in the education of the youths of the region is a sure way of guaranteeing a greater and better tomorrow for the region.”
He attributed the large-scale scholarship deployments to the support of President Bola Tinubu for the programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The PAP administrator also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser for its support and guidance.
He said, “We express our profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his massive support for the programme. Without his strong backing, the huge deployments would not have been possible.
“We are also very grateful to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his efficient supervision, deep insights and professional input that have helped the programme.”
