Aero Contractors Remains Under Receivership, AMCON Denies Running Airline Day‑to‑Day

Aero Contractors of Nigeria remains in receivership, and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has clarified that it is not “running” the airline in the day‑to‑day sense, contrary to some public claims.

The fact that Aero is under receivership reflects its financial restructuring status, as AMCON has held a controlling stake in the airline since 2016 and oversees the broader recovery process.

Flying Captain Ado Sanusi, a former executive at Arik Air, has been appointed Managing Director/CEO of Aero Contractors on reassignment by AMCON and continues to manage the airline’s operations.

AMCON, however, emphasises that its role is that of a receiver and majority shareholder, while Captain Sanusi and his team are responsible for the airline’s management.

The corporation notes that it may second its staff or appoint managers to firms where it has an interest—including Aero and Arik Air—but this does not equate to AMCON directly operating the airline, nor does it diminish the professional competence of Capt. Sanusi, who has led Aero through a recovery phase.

Stakeholders have been urged to distinguish between receivership oversight and operational management, to avoid what AMCON and allies describe as “misleading” narratives about who is running Aero Contractors.
