AC Milan Complete Comeback to Beat Manchester United 4-2

Manchester United suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Poland after surrendering the lead twice before the Italian side produced a second-half comeback.

The result made for an intriguing encounter as Milan are now managed by former United boss Ruben Amorim.

United made a blistering start when Harry Maguire opened the scoring in just the second minute, heading Bruno Fernandes’ corner beyond the Milan goalkeeper.

Amad Diallo nearly doubled United’s advantage moments later, but Milan gradually settled into the match and began creating opportunities.

United goalkeeper Senne Lammens made an important save to deny Ruben Loftus-Cheek before Milan eventually drew level in the 37th minute.

Goncalo Ramos played Samuel Chukwueze through, with the Nigerian forward making no mistake from close range to bring Milan back into the game.

United had a chance to regain the lead before the interval after being awarded a penalty, but Fernandes saw his spot-kick saved.

United restored their advantage six minutes after the restart when Patrick Dorgu capitalised on a poor back-pass from Filippo Terracciano to make it 2-1.

    However, Milan responded almost immediately.

Chukwueze once again caused problems down the right before delivering a dangerous ball for Alphadjo Cisse, who finished at the far post in the 57th minute to make it 2-2.

Four minutes later, Chukwueze was involved again as he created the opportunity for Ramos, who headed Milan into the lead for the first time.

United’s defensive problems continued in the 71st minute when Loftus-Cheek raced through the defence and completed Milan’s comeback by making it 4-2.

Manchester United attempted to respond through a series of substitutions, but they were unable to find a way back into the contest as Milan secured an impressive victory.

The match also marked the return of several United players.

Lisandro Martinez was gradually reintroduced following his World Cup involvement, while Kobbie Mainoo also returned to action.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to make his first appearance for Manchester United in 20 months.

With the new Premier League season approaching, the defeat will give Amorim plenty to consider, particularly after United twice surrendered their lead and conceded four goals.

The result also highlighted defensive weaknesses that Manchester United will need to address before the competitive season gets underway.
