United States Embassy in Nigeria has celebrated Wendy A. Okolo, a barrier-breaking Nigerian-American aerospace engineer at NASA Ames Research Center, highlighting her pioneering research in flight safety and control optimisation.

Across its Facebook, X, and Instagram platforms, the embassy noted Okolo earned a doctorate at age 26 and became the first Black woman with a PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington before joining NASA.
At NASA Ames in Silicon Valley, she leads work on advanced systems for aircraft safety, monitoring, and flight controls as an associate project manager in the Intelligent Systems Division.
The tribute aligns with US missions’ efforts to showcase Nigerians and immigrants excelling in American science, technology, and business, reflecting Nigerians as one of the most educated US immigrant groups.
