In a directive to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the president named Ambassador Ayodele Oke as ambassador-designate to France and Colonel Lateef Are as ambassador-designate to the United States of America.

He further approved Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, previously Nigeria’s envoy to South Korea, as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom, while naming Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former governor of Kebbi State, as ambassador-designate to Turkey ahead of the president’s scheduled state visit there next week.

The postings underscore President Tinubu’s strategy to fill critical diplomatic vacancies with experienced hands, including career diplomats and political figures, following Senate confirmation of a broader list late last year.

He instructed the ministry to formally notify the recipient governments in line with established diplomatic protocols, ensuring seamless transitions in Nigeria’s foreign missions.

This move comes as Nigeria strengthens bilateral ties with key global partners amid evolving international dynamics.
