No Attack on Imo Govt. House – Police

Imo Police Command refuted reports from some social media platforms that gunmen attacked the government house and Obinze army barracks.

Reacting to the report in a statement on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Bala Alkana urged the public to ignore the report.

He described it as “a false alarm, which existed only in the imagination of the writer”.

The social media report also said 15 soldiers were killed in the attack.

The PPRO described the report as “the work of mischief-makers and entrepreneurs in conflict.”

“The command therefore warns the public to beware of such messages,” he said, adding that he was aimed at causing tension and sowing fear among the residents of Imo.

“He further warns troublemakers to refrain from such false alarms, otherwise they would face the full wrath of the law.”

Alkana, who said peace had returned to Imo, advised “night sailors and hotel guests to feel free, to go out en masse in search of their regular pleasure.”
