Wale Adenuga Refutes Actor Papa Ajasco’s Broke Claims, Cites Past Support and Brand Protection

Wale Adenuga, Filmmaker and CEO of Wale Adenuga Productions, has dismissed claims by veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, popularly known as Papa Ajasco, that he is facing financial hardship despite decades in the iconic TV series.

Ayoyinka sparked online reactions with a video lamenting years of struggle, stating he owns no car or house and cannot use the Papa Ajasco name for content due to its registration by Adenuga.

In a statement released Wednesday, March 18, Adenuga called the narrative “false and misleading,” welcoming Ayoyinka’s social media strategy while clarifying their professional ties.

Adenuga described Ayoyinka as a versatile actor resembling the 1976 cartoon character he created, noting no irreconcilable differences between them and highlighting the actor’s 30-year civil service career with Lagos State, from which he recently retired.

He revealed the production company provided Ayoyinka cars, including a Mercedes-Benz at different times, and believes he owns a house in Ogun State, while other cast members like Pa James also received vehicles.

Adenuga explained restrictions on the Papa Ajasco brand protect its integrity, but actors face no bans on external jobs or adverts, requiring only company approval, with cast typically working just six weeks yearly.

Questioning Ayoyinka’s financial woes, Adenuga asked about investments or gratuities from his state service, stressing payments meet industry standards and denying any abandonment.

He reaffirmed commitment to professional relationships, thanking the public for concern over the legacy that has entertained millions of Nigerians for decades.
