Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said on Sunday that only truth, justice, fairness and fairness in all areas of the country would guarantee a united Nigeria.
Okowa said this during the Thanksgiving service to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 7th Delta House of Assembly, held at Living Faith Church, Asaba.
The governor said he believes in the unity of the country and added that the leaders must act in the interest of the diversity of the nation.
According to Okowa, only such acts of justice and fairness to all areas can encourage Nigerians to believe in the unity of the country.
He noted that Nigerians were facing difficult times and urged Christians to pray “because God can really make a difference for this nation”.
“As a nation we have a lot to learn, even from what we have seen now and what we are going through. We must work together for the progress and unity of this nation.
“Do not lose hope and faith in God; let’s play our individual roles outside of prayers.
“Many times we recite our national anthem regardless of the words it contains. We can truly serve our country with love and strength if we believe in the unity of the country.
“There are a lot of calls for restructuring and national dialogue because of the things we are seeing, but we have to continue to have faith in our country; things will certainly change for the better.
“For those of us who find ourselves in government, we really need to reexamine ourselves to be sure that we are truly serving our nation.
“We must continue to see Nigeria as one country and everything that is done must be done in a way that reflects the unity within us so that each area truly believes that we are in one Nigeria,” he said. declared.
The governor congratulated the members of the National Assembly for their cooperation with the executive in the service of the state.
“I am very proud of the assembly because all that we have accomplished in these difficult times is because they have remained very united.
“Many times you have placed the interest of the state above personal interests.
“I believe that at the beginning of the third year, a new beginning will come within you to offer better services during the remaining two years.
“I urge you to redouble your efforts because we are living through very difficult times. Remember that we are of service to the people of Delta and that we give more than we have done before.
“It is my prayer that God give you the strength and wisdom to continue serving the people,” he added.
Earlier in a sermon titled, “Understanding the Wonders of Thanksgiving,” Pastor David Popoola urged Christians to always remember to appreciate God for His blessings on their lives.
He said thanksgiving was a debt that every Christian owed to God.
