The Nigerian Police Council has confirmed the appointment of Alkali Baba as the substantive Inspector General Of Police (IGP).
Baba was earlier appointed by in acting capacity by President Muhammadu Buhari last month. The decision was reached at meeting between the police council and President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo was also present at the meeting which held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi, Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Others present include; Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, Interior minister Rauf Aregbesola, Police Service Commission chairman, Musiliu Smith and FCT minister Muhammed Bello.
Mr Baba was a deputy inspector-general of police before his promotion.
