    Pantami Bags NITRA’s Prestigious Digital Economy Driver Award

    Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has bagged the ‘Digital Economy Driver Award’ in recognition of his efforts in positioning Nigeria’s digital economy sector on the path of sustainable National development.

    The honour was presented to him by the National Body of Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association (NITRA) during the association’s familiarization visit to introduce its New Excos.

    The award according to NITRA, an advocacy group was in recognition of the Minister’s effort in harnessing and formulating policies to drive Nigeria to gainful digitization as captured in the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria.

    The NITRA team also commended the Minister for coming up with people-oriented developmental policies and overseeing implementation.

    The body singled out the ongoing NIN SIM verification process as an exercise of great National importance which will accelerate economic National development.

    “We appreciate all that you have been doing since your appointment, the digital economy sector has witnessed tremendous success and growth under your stewardship,” the body said.

    It will be recalled that last month during the official launch of the National Policy for the Promotion of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector and the revised National SIM Card registration policy, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari commended the Minister, Dr Pantami for his landmark achievements in the digital economy sector of Nigeria.

    Mr President said, “I commend the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), for the landmark achievements of the digital economy sector and his commitment in carrying out his responsibility of developing the sector, including championing the growth of the indigenous telecom sector and NIN-SIM registration process. I also commend the industry stakeholders for their support for the sector”.

    Under the stewardship of Dr Pantami, Broadband penetration hits an unprecedented 45.07%, digital literacy and skills are giving a great priority as unemployed youths, artisans, women, Persons Living with Disabilities, Public Servants, Farmers, Community Leaders, among others are empowered with the required digital skills, digital devices, and infrastructure to thrive in the digital space.

    Nigerians data are fully protected and secured, virtual engagements in Federal Public Institutions has been institutionalized, eGovernance is prioritized with the Minister today coordinating the 50th Virtual Federal Executive Council Meeting.
