The Osun State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with an alleged burglary in which valuables worth about N3m, including laptops, mobile phones and power banks, were stolen.
One of the suspects, 27-year-old Eyelade Anuoluwa, was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following intelligence gathered by operatives attached to the Ilesa Area Command.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, Anuoluwa allegedly broke into the complainant’s residence on July 26, 2026, and stole an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, an iPhone 12, an Android phone, two power banks and recharge cards.
The stolen items were valued at approximately N3m.
The police said Anuoluwa was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, where he allegedly confessed to the crime.
Further investigation and interrogation reportedly led the suspect to disclose that some of the stolen items had been transferred to a receiver in Ibadan.
“Consequently, Police operatives from SCID embarked on an intelligence-led operation which resulted in the arrest of one of the receivers, Abdullah Musa’m’, aged 28 years, in Ibadan,” the statement said.
The police said Musa also confessed to receiving stolen property and was being investigated over his alleged involvement in “the activities of a syndicate dealing in stolen items.”
According to the command, Musa further confessed that “he bought an iPhone 12 from the suspect for the sum of twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000).”
The operation also led to the recovery of several items, including an HP laptop, a Dell laptop, a small Samsung phone, a mini DP charger, two power banks, an Apple iPad with 16GB capacity and a scrap phone.
The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, commended the operatives for their diligence and intelligence-led approach, which resulted in the arrests and recovery of some of the stolen property.
The command said investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ activities, identify other persons connected to the alleged crime and recover additional stolen items.
It added that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations in accordance with the law.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and persons through the appropriate channels.
